About Us

BRIEF HISTORY

Brakwa SHTS is a public senior high technical school located in Brakwa, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district, Central Region. The school was established and opened on January 11, 2011, through the collaboration of Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, Mrs. Georgina Nkrumah-Aboah (former District Chief Executives of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa), Mr. Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori (former MP), Mrs. Felicia Opoku Marlett (former District Director of Education), and Nana Yaa Asantewaa III, the Queen Mother of Brakwa.

The school began on the premises of Brakwa Presby J.H.S. with a student population of 39 comprising 13 girls and 26 boys under acting head Mr. Joseph Opoku Agbo, assisted by the first permanent staff Mr. Delove Ayim and two other permanent teachers, plus a non-teaching staff member.

 

The school initially relied on part-time teachers from Breman Asikuma Senior High School, the District Education Directorate, and two national service personnel.

In the 2015/2016 academic year, it was absorbed as a government-assisted school. Mrs. Emily-Rita Pinto became the first substantive head in 2015, followed by Mr. Joseph Ato Sarpong (2017-2018).

 

The school gained boarding status in the 2017/2018 academic year.

 Mr. Evans Jomo Glivey was headmaster from 2018 to 2019, and was succeeded by Mr. Appiah Takyi (2019-2020).

The current head is Mrs. Juliana Aku A. Asasu.

 

The school currently has 1,271 students, with 457 day students and 814 boarders, with staff strength of 60 comprising 57 teaching and 12 non-teaching members.

 

The school offers the following learning areas: General Arts, Business, Home Economics, Applied Technology, Agriculture, and Art.
